What is Sound Healing

Sound healing is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body and mind of a person, with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health. Healing through sound can be transmitted in a number of ways including music, voice, song, beats, instruments, headphones, vibration and more.

Everything is Energy

Every organ, every bone, every cell in the body has its own vibratory rate and unique resonant frequency. Together they make up a composite frequency like the instruments of an orchestra. When one organ in the body is out of tune it will affect the whole body. Through the principle of resonance it is possible to use sound to bring the body back into harmony. Since sound is vibration it can raise or lower the frequency of our bodies, just as our emotions do.

The Body is Electric

Modern medicine uses sound waves in various ways. Lithotripters are machines used to break up kidney and gallstones in the body, bombarding the stones with a specific sound frequency. Electrocardiograms (EKGs) are used to measure the electrical impulses of the heart to detect cardiac problems, and defibrillator paddles are used to deliver an electric shock to resuscitate the heart. High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is now used in some hospitals and private clinics to treat prostate cancer.

Emotions are key to electric health. Negativity causes stress not only on the mind but on the body too. A positive mindset and optimism lead to healthy lives by reducing stress and allowing the natural internal processes to run smoothly. One way to maintain a healthy body is to unblock repressed emotions and trauma stored within the body, and allow the energy to flow freely as designed.

Importance of

Frequency

Frequencies are directly tied to emotions or the states of being we allow our bodies to resonate with. Higher frequencies elicit good feelings or moods, while low frequencies are associated with negative feelings or responses. Just as an unchecked emotion can impact the body's vibration in an unpleasant manner, a purposeful change in mindset can raise the body's vibration into a level of acceptance, reason, or love.

Creative energy lends to positive thoughts, and emotional states, meaning the body is functioning in a higher vibration. This is often why the term 'stay strong' is used to encourage another who is feeling low or sad. Though all emotions are important lessons to learn from, strong or high frequencies enable the mind to operate from a more clear perspective. When vibrations are higher, the emotional state rises above destructive feelings such as depression, anxiety or scorn.

Fight or Flight

The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems are differentiated based on how the body responds to environmental stimuli. The sympathetic nervous system's primary function is to stimulate the body's 'fight or flight' response during any potential danger by increasing the heart rate, releasing adrenaline, constricting the pupils and tensing the muscles.

On the other hand, the parasympathetic nervous system restores the body to a calm and composed state known as 'rest and digest', and prevents the body from overworking. Parasympathetic releases acetylcholine, the hormone that slows down the heart rate and lets the body know it's safe and there's no danger.

Specific sounds, frequencies and vibrations have a similar impact, invoking the parasympathetic nervous system on the body. Frequencies such as Solfeggio and binaural beats help cells recalibrate, and repair the misfiring of the nervous system which creates nervousness, anxiety, disrupted sleep and irritability. In this way, sound therapy becomes a very powerful treatment to reduce stress and pain, restoring the mind and body to its optimal rhythm.

The human body is made up of 70% water, making it a very good conductor of sound.
